The Visionary Behind

Driven by the concern to provide healthcare services for the local community, Sheikh Mohammed Abdulla Almana opened the doors of the first healthcare center in the Eastern Province in 1949.

The beginning was a humble effort. The Group began with modest sized clinics for dental and ophthalmic care. Over the decades these clinics expanded into five large independent ultra-modern hospitals with 3 additional specialized medical centers with out-patient services and medical dispensaries in the four major cities of the Eastern Province, namely, Al-Asha Dammam, Al-Khobar and Jubail.

The Beginning

1949

Shiekh Mohammed Abdullah Almana founded the first private medical center in the Saudi Arabia, initially providing Dental and Ophthalmic services.

First Corporate Client

1956

Saudi Aramco becomes the first corporate client.

Expansion started

1960

Eye Clinics Converted to an Eye Hospital.

First Saudi-owned and operated private hospital

1963

Almana Eye & Dental Hospital was established, heralding the first Saudi-owned and operated private hospital of Saudi Arabia.

Main hospital building

1979

Completion of main hospital building at Al-Khobar. Expansion includes all medical and surgical specialties.

Dental Centre

1980

New Almana Dental Centre opens in Al-Khobar.

New inpatient building

1987

Dental Laser services

1988

First Dental Laser services are introduced in the region.

First CT scan

1989

First CT scan of the Eastern Province was mounted in Almana General Hospital.

1990

Dammam Hospital is opens.

First Vitro Fertilization Unit

1991

First Vitro Fertilization Unit of the Eastern Province was inaugurated in Almana General Hospital Dammam.

Excimer Laser

1993

Excimer Laser eye treatment introduced.

First MRI of the Eastern Province

1995

First MRI of the Eastern Province was introduced in Almana General Hospital. Continuous expansion of AGH adds a new outpatient building in Al-Khobar Almana Hospital.

First private medical training center

1996

First private medical training center Almana Training Centre (ATC) was lunched. Geriatric Unit was opened.

dermatology and cosmetic surgery

1998

Introducing laser treatment for dermatology and cosmetic surgery for the first time in the Eastern Province.

Second Industrial City Dispensary

1999

Dammam Second Industrial City Dispensary opens.

new General Hospital

2000

Almana General Hospital extended to Al-Hafof. Opening of new General Hospital took place in the city of Hofuf.

Nuclear Medicine

2003

Nuclear Medicine was introduced in Radiology department.

Almana Cosmo- Derma Center

2012

Opening of Almana Cosmo- Derma Center in Dammam. Opening of Almana Medical Centre in Jubail Industrial city. Extension of PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) in AGHKhobar. First MRI (Philips INGENIA) to be installed in Middle East at Almana General Hospital – Dammam

Opening Almana Healthcare Facility in Raka.

2018

AGH Jubail unveils Cardiac Cath Lab. AGH Khobar Laboratory Receives Accreditation from CAP. AGH launches its Mobile application. AGH hosted the first Block chain in Healthcare Summit of Saudi Arabia 2018. Mana Almana was appointed as member of the Board of Directors at Al Qadisiyah Club. Mana M. Almana is officially Group CEO.

Aziziah Dammam

2023

Opened the first Oncology Center in the Eastern Region in January.
Opened a new hospital in Aziziah, Dammam in May.
Almana Hospital in Khobar Awarded Prestigious Gold Person-Centered Certification from Planetree International.
