PREGNANCY & DELIVERY

Almana Group of Hospitals constitutes one of the largest health care institutions in the Eastern Province with a history dating back to 1954. It has expanded over the years and now consists of 4 hospitals and other clinics scattered over an extensive catchment area and covering the cities of Al Khobar, Dammam, Jubail and Al Hofuf in 1954. Al Khobar represents the flagship of the Group and was the first to be established.

The Obstetric units in all member hospitals are staffed by highly qualified consultants and specialists as well as highly trained nurses. All are equipped with modern facilities for investigations and treatment in all aspects of Women’s Health Care. This includes:

• Ante Natal Care
• Normal and Operative Deliveries
• Painless Labour
• Medical and nursing care for the new born babies and Special Care Baby Unit for those in need.
• Screening for Gynecological cancer of all Types
• Menopause assessment and treatment
• Family Planning advice
• Minimally invasive surgery as well as conventional surgery.
• Screening and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Disease

Routine Ante Natal Care:

Consultants and highly trained specialists have daily clinics (Mornings and Evenings: 8am – 12 noon and 4 pm – 8 pm, Saturday to Thursday) at the Out Patients Clinics where state-of-the-art facilities are available, including:

• Bedside ultrasound machines to follow up your baby’s growth and it’s well being
• Sophisticated 3D & 4D ultrasound machines for more detailed study of the baby in special situations
• Fetal Medicine Unit where advanced fetal monitoring is employed to detect, follow up and treat high-risk pregnancies. Two consultants at Al Khobar are specially trained in this field.
• Well-established laboratory with extensive facilities for practically every investigation required.

Delivery of your Baby:

The newly renovated Labour Suite and Maternity Wards provide a truly delightful and happy atmosphere with all the comfort and safety expected from a high profile hospital. The medical care and nursing expertise are impressive. Painless Labour (Epidural Analgesia) has been on offer for well over three decades. This consists of a little prick and injection of local anesthetic at the lower part of your back. There are, in Khobar, facilities for your husband or closest relative to accompany you during delivery, subject to your doctor’s approval and under certain conditions.

When your baby is delivered, he/she is received by an attending pediatrician and later transferred to the nursery for assessment and nursing care. Rooming in is allowed if you request it.

If your delivery is by elective caesarean section (C/S), then you have the choice to have it under Epidural or General Anesthesia. Following the operation, you will be transferred to a Recovery Room for 12 – 24 hours for closer monitoring and observation.

More reassuringly is the fact that the costs for your normal delivery or operation are reasonable and affordable. The special packages have been designed to be competitive and economic:

• Ante Natal follow up only package
• Ante Natal follow up + Normal Delivery Package (2 Days)
• Caesarean Section only package (5 Days)
