General Surgery

The General Surgery Department in Almana Hospital, Al Khobar, established 60 years ago, is one of the oldest in the AGH Group. The Al Khobar Hospital is a tertiary care hospital. Five experienced General and Laparoscopic Surgeons staff the General Surgery division. Five experienced Registrars support the Consultants.

This Department is equipped with state of the art Laparoscopic and Conventional Surgical Equipment backed by sophisticated modern imaging and Laboratory Services, all in one floor.
A newly renovated

• Theatre suits,
• Surgical ICU
• High Dependency Unit, further enhances the Surgical Department, all within easy access of each other.

Our Department is a pioneer in Laparoscopic Surgery, not only in the AGH Group, but in the Eastern Province as well.

We offer tertiary level services including but not limited to:

Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery such as Bariatric Surgery for weight loss, e.g. intragastric ballon, gastric bonding, sleeve gastrectomy and bypass surgery.

• Hernia Repair,
• Colon Resection,
• Splenectomy
• Cholecystectomy.
• Appendicectomy

Additional to these, we deal with complicated cases of :

• the Gastrointestinal Tract,
• Pancreas as well as
• Endocrine Surgery and are heavily involved with the Poly Trauma Team.

Our department is constantly performing academic teaching and training activities as we continue to up-grade clinical practice and ourselves.

Hours of Operation:

Saturday - Thursday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 08:00 pm
