Providing a high-quality, cost-effective Emergency and routine (Non-emergency) general surgical care needs for the expanding population of Jubail industrial area and its surrounding region.

General surgery department is aiming at up-dated, high quality general surgical care provided by highly qualified well-trained staff in a comfortable and professional atmosphere.

GOALS:
- To establish general guidelines for management of patient undergoing surgical operations in the following specialties: General Surgery and Urology.
- To standardize patient care in line with global standards and in accordance with MOH regulations.
- To create a road map for the new staff inducted to the department and thus avoid mishaps in the patient management.
OBJECTIVES:
- These protocols represent the basic management – investigations, pre- and post-operative management of the patient who has no co-morbidity in order to avoid unnecessary investigations and treatment.
- As over investigations and treatment may be harmful to the patient and exhaust the hospital resources, doctors will stick to the protocols as much as possible.
- All surgeons from each specialty has agreed on these protocols after discussion of each case in the departmental meetings, so Residents and Nurses will follow them in routine operations to avoid confusion and unnecessary delays.
- Protocols for surgical operations are not substitute for a good history taking and physical examination for each patient. Every patient should be managed individually according to his/her condition and the associated co-morbidity. Another investigations, treatment and consultations may be added after discussion with the Treating Consultant.
Scope of Service:
- Management of wide field of surgical diseases in OPD.
- Management and care of surgical patients in Inpatient and ICU departments.
- Covering the daily calls to manage admitted patients and surgical cases in the Emergency Room
- Management of polytrauma especially head, chest and abdominal traumas.
- Departmental meeting is done twice a month for discussion of scientific issues and morbidity and mortality.
- Performing all types of operations, which includes elective, emergency and laparoscopic surgeries as follows:
- Thyroid and Parathyroid glands Surgery
- Parotid Tumors
- Breast Surgery
- Surgery of abdominal and groin hernias including incision and recurrent hernias (open and laparoscopic approach).
- Surgery of the stomach
- Surgery of the small and large intestines
- Hemorrhoidectomy– classic and stapler
- Biliary & Gallbladder surgeries – laparoscopic and open Cholecystectomy
- Surgery of the pancreas
- Surgery of the spleen
- Surgery of the adrenal glands
- Surgery of the varicose veins of lower limbs
- Appendicectomy – open and laparoscopic
- Bar iatric surgery ( Lap gastric banding)
- All types of skin and subcutaneous lesions
- Excision Biopsy body swellings(Lymph nodes ,Tumors
- Management of burn cases
Hours of Operation:
Saturday - Tuesday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 09:00 pm)
Wednesday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 08:00 pm)
Thursday (0800 am- 1200 pm only)
Note: (On-call services 24 hours a day / 7 days a week)
