General Pediatric

Our Paediatric Department is staffed by 3 experienced Paediatric Consultants and supported by well-qualified Specialists. The nurses receive orientation and intensive training for this department.

We provide 24 hours Paediatric cover. Average Paediatrics seen in OPD per month is about 2,000.

The Department of Paediatric consists of the following branches and provides the following services for age ranges from birth to around puberty.

Scope of Services:

Outpatients provides consultation on the following conditions: 

•  Paediatric Cardiology

Diagnose and stabilization of congenital and acquired heart diseases in neonates and older children, proper referral to Cardiology Centers, ECHO and EKG evaluation.

•  Respiratory – managing the following diseases:
• Bronchial asthma
• All types of pneumonia including congenital pneumonic and aspiration pneumonia
• Respiratory distress with various etiology
• Congenital chest and spine deformities.
• CNS – All types of seizure disorder diagnosis and management, EEG, CT and MRI evaluation, CP evaluation and management.
• Kidney and Urinary Tract – Diagnosis and management of all congenital and acquired kidney disease, urinary tract infections and work-up, renal ultrasonography, DPTA, DMSA evaluation, IVP and MUCG.
• Endocrinology & Metabolic Disorders – managing congenital metabolic defect and other endocrinopathies, assessment and treatment of diabetes mellitus, hypoglycemia, thyroid and other endocrinal disorders.
• The Department manages all neonatal problem including extreme prematures babies on ventilator support, aspiration meconium syndrome, birth asphyxia, cardiac, respiratory, kidney problems, neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and CNS neonatal management.
• Immunization and other preventive pediatric management.
• Encouraging breast feeding and solving social and psychosocial familial disorders.
• Support and evaluation of children at school entrance and follow-up.
• Developmental and nutritional assessment of children and adolescents.
• Advice and support parents through telephone when they are worried or have questions.

The OutPatient services provide 5 clinics staffed by 3 Consultants and 2 Specialists.
The InPatient Facilities consists of:

• Paediatric Ward – 17 Beds
• Newborn Nursery and Special Care Baby Unit – 12 cots, 5 incubators, 2 ventilators, and 7 Phototherapy Units.

Expansion:
The near future expansion plan consist of:

• Increasing Paediatric Clinics
• Add 4 more beds on Paediatric Ward
• Acquiring 4 more ventilators.

The Department of Pediatrics participates in the following activities:

• Weekly grand round.
• Weekly departmental meetings.
• Alternate week case presentations.
• Monthly Perinatology meeting combined with Obstetrics & Gynecology Department.
• Contribution to Jubail Pediatric Club monthly meetings and a case presentation in rotation with other five (5) hospitals in the area.
• Weekly CME in the hospital auditorium with at least 10 lectures per year.
• Monthly neonatal club and case presentation in rotation with other 5 hospitals.
• Seven (7) days per year study leave to attend activities and seminars outside the country after approval from Administration and Department Head.
• Individual activities such as membership to different international societies, e.g. International Child Group (2 members), Pacific Society of Human Genetics (1 member) Bigman Women Hospital on Pediatric Society of Harvard Medical School (1 member).
• Some doctors are also members of Paediatric Societies in the Eastern Province in Dammam and Al-Khobar e.g. Saudi Pediatrics Association, Sudanes Pediatric Association, etc

Saturday - Tuesday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 09:00 pm)
Wednesday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 08:00 pm)
Thursday (0800 am- 1200 pm only)

Note: (On-call services 24 hours a day / 7 days a week)
