INTRODUCTION
The ORL-H&N department deals with problems and illnesses of ear, nose, throat, larynx, head and neck. This includes some neuro-muscular disorders [eg, facial nerve paralysis], upper esophageal problems, salivary gland diseases, sleep disorders and occupational hearing hazards.
Yearly we see about 15,000 patients through OPD and ER [24 hrs services] with about 600 patient admissions either for surgical or medical treatment.
MISSION
To give an advanced and updated service in this specialty to society and the population of Jubail and its surrounding cities. To continuously update ourselves through education and provide patient education.
Evidence based medicine is our trend.

VALUE STATEMENT
OR - H&N department of AGH-Jubail is a recognizable unit of AGH Group of Hospitals in the Eastern Province providing highly advanced health care and educational services through our highly qualified medical staff.
SERVICES OFFERED
1. OPD Services:

• Day to day patient care: OPD visitors are managed on evidence based medicine rules.
• Minor procedures
  • ear wash and ear suction to clear wax, ear discharges etc.
  • post operative dressing
  • endoscopic video documented examination under local Anaesthesia for sino-nasal, laryngeal and naso-pharyngeal problems
  • microscopic examination of ear documented on T.V for patient education and orientation
  • foreign body removal from nose, ear and throat under local Anaesthesia
  • incision and drainage under local Anaesthesia of small abscess
• Audiology and hearing assessment test
• tympanogram to assess middle ear pressure and Eustachian tube problems
• pure tone audiogram for hearing evaluation of patients,  pre-employment check up and annual check  of industrial plant employees
• evaluation of patients with hearing and speech disabilities
• patient education is provided

2. In patient services:

• Medical and surgical management according to the condition.
• Uncompensating vertigo
• Severely infected ear, nose or throat conditions
• Hemorrhagic conditions such as epistaxis, bleeding per mouth etc.
• Conservative observation of selected trauma patients

3. Emergency services:
24 hrs service/day/week. Services offered to all urgent inflammatory, traumatic and acute conditions pertaining to this department. Also, we are sharing our services to manage respiratory distress.

FLAP AND RECONSTRUCTION SURGERY
For face, head and neck trauma patient.
MAXILLO-ORO-FACIAL SURGERY

• Tumor excision biopsy
• Reconstruction surgery of trauma patient
• Mid face trauma surgery

Our goals are:

• Complete  diagnostic endoscopic unit for patient examination and training of junior staff
• Sleep lab unit for sleep disorders assessment and management
• Full audiology unit to deal  with patient of ear problem as well as occupational hearing hazards
• Speech therapy unit to serve cases of speech dysfunction
• To increase the number of OPD clinics.
• Clinic procedures like somnoplasty with laser or coblation, endoscopic minimally invasive neck surgeries e.g.; thyroidectomy

Preparation and participation in CME and other training and health educational programes  to strengthen the skills and ability of our staff and to update our services.

Saturday - Tuesday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 09:00 pm)
Wednesday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 08:00 pm)
Thursday (0800 am- 1200 pm only)

Note: (On-call services 24 hours a day / 7 days a week)
