“The Department of Anesthesia is committed to providing quality and safe anesthesia services to all patients undergoing surgery or procedures requiring anesthesia, keeping in mind their unique needs.”

SCOPE OF SERVICES

• Assessment and preparation of patients for anesthesia.
• Assessment includes evaluation of health status, identification of opportunities to enhance health status with the aim of improving patient outcome, discussion of an anesthetic plan, patient education, and encouragement of greater family involvement in care.
• Referral of patients to other specialties for consultation whenever needed.
• Relief and prevention of pain during and following surgical, obstetric, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures.
• Relief of pain during labour and delivery.
• Monitoring and maintenance of normal physiology during preoperative period.
• Manage recovery in the recovery room before transfer to the relevant ward.
• Management of critically ill patients.
• Evaluation of respiratory function and application of respiratory therapy.
• Management of OR to improve efficiency, control costs, enhance institutional performance and improve quality of care.

Supervision, teaching and evaluation of performance of both medical and paramedical personnel involved in preoperative care.

Hours of Operation:

Saturday - Tuesday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 09:00 pm)
Wednesday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 08:00 pm)
Thursday (0800 am- 1200 pm only)

Note: (On-call services 24 hours a day / 7 days a week)
