Radiology

The Radiology and Medical Imaging Department, AGH-Hofuf, offers adequate regular and convenient radiology services.

These services are in accordance with accredited national and international standards incorporating the utilization of advanced equipment and techniques performed by a highly trained and motivated staff.

Objectives of the Department

• To produce work of the highest achievable standards, with maximum patient care and minimum waiting times.
• To create a safe, inspiring and pleasant working environment for all staff
• To develop and expand communication and collaboration with all referring departments and hospital administration.
• To promote quality and cost effectiveness in medical imaging
• To provide continuing professional development for radiological and radiographic staff working in the department.
• To provide valid information for research.
• To provide opportunities for research, publication and continuing medical education.
• To attain JCI accreditation in line with AGH time frame.

The Radiology services of AGH Al Hofuf are adequate, regular, convenient and are available to meet the Inpatient and Outpatient needs:

These Radiology Services are as follows:

• General conventional radiology composed of skeletal radiography, plain radiography without the use of contrast media for all parts of the body.
• Special X-ray procedures like contrast media examination of the gastrointestinal, genito-urinary tract & neuro-radiology examinations.
• Whole body computed tomography (CT) including dynamic CT scanning.
• Ultrasound imaging of different tissues of the body, which are detectable sonografically and obstetrical sonography.
• Vascular sonography by color Doppler
• X-ray, CT scan and ultrasound guided biopsies.
• Basic interventional procedures or techniques with fluoroscopic /CT and/or ultrasound guidance.
• Mammography
• MRI study of all parts of the body as well as MR angiography, MRCP, MR urography and MR mammography.
• Portable bedside X-ray and ultrasound examinations.

Time of Performance of requested examination:

Routine examinations are performed during regular hours.

Examinations ordered as STAT or Urgent are given priority over routine examinations and are done as soon as possible.

Issuing of Radiological Reports:

Most official radiology reports will be available for viewing by the doctors within 24hours after the procedure has been performed. A hard copy of the report will be in patient files within 24 hours of completion of the examination.

Patients who require an emergency examination or as a result of an examination, an unusual findings has been recorded, will have an urgent report written by the Radiologist at the end of their examination. This ensures that the physician in charge has been informed so that urgent clinical decisions can be made in their treatment.

Reporting of routine x-ray films on weekends and during holidays are done immediately on the first day that resumes the normal working hours of the Radiology Department after the weekend or holiday.

It is against Hospital policy for anyone other than the referring physician to discuss the results of an investigation with the patient.

 

NOTE: Imaging Examinations are done only if requested by MOH licensed physician and only done by MOH licensed technician and reported by a credentialed MOH licensed Radiologist.

Hours of Operation:

Saturday - Thursday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 08:00 pm

Note: (On-call services 24 hours a day / 7 days a week)
