Neurosurgery

Neurosurgery is a super specialty in the discipline of Surgery dealing with the treatment of patients with disorders of the nervous system, brain, skull base, spinal cord, the vertebral column, peripheral nerves and the vasculature supplying the brain and spinal cord. It Diagnosis and surgical management of pituitary lessons is another area and interest to the neurosurgical team.

We provide 24 hours service.

The Department is supported by:
Highly qualified neurosurgeons and experienced skilled nurses who manage and care for all neurosurgery patients.

• Surgical Intensive Care Unit ((ICU)
• Surgical High Dependency Unit
• Male and Female Surgical Wards
• Pain Management Team
• Sophisticated Radiology services especially MRI and CT scanning
• Laboratory
• Intensive Physical Therapy
• Respiratory Therapy

Scope of Services:
The following conditions we manage:

• Inter-vetebral disc herniation
• Spinal stenosis
• Hydrocephalus
• Head trauma (brain hemorrhages, skull fractures, etc.)
• Spinal cord trauma
• Traumatic injuries of peripheral nerves
• Brain tumors and abscesses
• Tumors of the spine, spinal cord and peripheral nerves
• Cerebral aneurysms
• Some forms of hemorrhagic stroke e.g.subarachnoid hemorrhages, as well as intraparenchymal and intraventricular hemorrhages
• Some forms of pharmacologically resistant epilepsy
• Intractable pain of cancer or trauma and cranial/peripheral nerve pain
• Malformations of the nervous system
• Carotid artery stenosis
• Vascular malformations (i.e., arteriovenous malformations, venous angiomas, cavernous angiomas, capillary telangectasias) of the brain and spinal cord
• Peripheral neuropathies such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and ulnar neuropathy
• Moyamoya disease
• Congenital malformations of the nervous system, including spina bifida and craniosynostosis

Post operatively, we provide patient education through:

• Instructions after Neck Surgery
• Instructions following Craniotomy.

Hours of Operation:

Saturday - Thursday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 08:00 pm
