Adult Male Ltc Ward

Almana General Hospital is renowned for its long-term care program and extended care Units. Each unit is staff by a skillful well trained multidisciplinary team including Specialist, Physician, Residents, Staff Nurses, Clinical Dietitian, Physiotherapist, Respiratory Therapist and Social Worker. In addition, there is as clinical on-call pharmacist.

This care is provided for adults requiring care on a long term basis and who cannot cope in the family environment.

Our Goals are :

• To maintain high quality patient care.
• To assist patients in regaining & maintaining their maximum functional status according to their age & clinical condition.
• Through a well arranged multidisciplinary approach and individual care plans to meet the medical, physical emotional, social & spiritual needs of each patients. 
• To honor and respect patient rights.

Extended care Units provide:

• Full medical care up to the level of mechanical ventilators & Dialysis ( For those patients requiring such support )
• Rehabilitative services for post CVA patients , post major surgery patients and the handicapped.
• Nutritional support e.g. oral, enteral (NGT, JT, PEGT) & parenteral (partial or complete) feedings.
• All types of medications
• A variety of investigations either laboratory or radiological

All ECU staff believe that when quality of life can no longer be sustained, the highest value and support be placed on death with dignity. Priority for admission to Extended Care Units will be given to the patients occupying acute care beds within Almana Hospital. A recently upgraded designated Adult Long Term Care area occupies the whole 4th floor, building A.The total capacity is 30 beds, fully equipped with ventilator and Dialysis connections if required.

• There are two (2) special isolation rooms and three (3) others with continuous monitoring system similar to high dependency facilities.
