Scope of Care

Types of Patients Served


The Radiology Department provides both Inpatient and Outpatient Diagnostic procedures to assist the clinical hospital teams in the diagnosis and treatment of patients of all ages. All services are performed in the same facility and with the same level of care.

Range of Conditions and Diagnoses Treated and Range of Treatments Performed

1.) Computed Radiography, Digital Radiography. With the help of the latest radiography equipments the department provides services in routine radiography. The excellent quality of the images aids in accurate detection of the lesions.

2.) Special Contrast Procedures
a.) GI Studies include Upper and Lower GI examinations, with Barium or Gastrograffin, Hydrostatic reduction of intussusception, Small Bowel Enema.

b.) Urographic procedures include Excretory Urography, Retrograde Urography, Nephrostomogram, Ascending Urethrogram, Voiding Cysto-uretherogram.

c.) Gynecologic procedures include Hysterosalpingography.

d.) Hepatobiliary Procedures include Per-cutaneous Trans hepatic Cholangiography (PTC), T-Tube Cholangiography.


3.) Diagnostic Ultrasound. The Department is equipped with three state of the art Ultrasound machines capable of general ultrasound, 3D and 4D Obstetric US, Endovaginal (TVS) and Transrectal US (TRUS), Superficial Organ examination, Duplex and Color Doppler examination.

4.) Interventional ultrasound. The Department provides interventional services such as Fine needle Aspiration Cytology and Biopsy, Core biopsies, Abcess Drainage, Nephrostomy, Thoracocentasis, Paracentasis, and Amniocentasis.

5.) Spiral CT. This Whole body Dual Slice CT scanner is capable of multiphase dynamic contrast studies for characterization of the lesions. It is capable of high resolution scanning for the lung parenchyma, Temporal
bones with excellent capability of multi-planar as well as 3D reformation of the images.

6.) MRI. With this 1.5T Unit the department provides services in imaging of nervous system including Brain and Spine, Diffusion Weighted imaging, Time of Flight, Phase Contrast as well as Contrast enhanced Angiography for the whole body. It provides excellent image quality for peripheral Angiography using MOBITRAK Protocol.

7.) DEXA scanning. The department is equipped with state of the Art Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) for accurate assessment of the Bone mineral Density in susceptible population.

8.) Mammography. The department provides services in the form of routine screening as well as in cases with suspected breast lesions. The Department also performs special procedures such as Galactography.

9.) Nuclear Medicine Services.

Types of Staff Carrying Out these Activities


Radiology Department is run by a team of radiologists with expertise in various sub specialties of medical imaging. The radiologists are supported by medical imaging technologists including radiographers, mammographers, and CT and MRI technologists.

Other ancillary staff includes radiology nurse, filing clerk, X-ray receptionist, and medical transcriptionist.

The department has fully integrated RIS-PACS network system. The images and the reports are available to the clinicians and in the wards on the web.

Sites where Care and Service are Provided

All routine Radiological Procedures and Ultrasounds, except conventional x-ray exams, are by appointment. Patients attending from courtesy physicians and other facilities with a referral for examination will be treated in the same manner.

Times When Care and Service are Provided

Services are provided 24 hours a day by qualified Radiologists and Radiographers. Computed Radiography and Digital Radiography services is available 24 hours / 3 shifts / 7 days a week while other services such as Ultrasound, CT Scanning, MRI is open during regular working hours from 0800 hours – 1200 hours and 1600 hours – 2000 hours from Saturday through Thursday. After these hours emergency services are available for all procedures on and on “ On-call” basis.

Saturday - Thursday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 08:00 pm
