Scope of Care

Types of Patients Served

Emergency Department of Dammam is a very busy department. It provides 24 hours / 7 days a week service for patients of all ages with Medical, Surgical, and any other conditions requiring immediate medical care and emergency interventions.

Patients are triaged or categorized according to severity of their condition and, in a timely manner, managed accordingly.

 Range of Conditions and Diagnoses Treated and Range of Treatments Performed

• Evaluate, stabilize, and treat emergency patients as indicated.
• Admission and follow-up care.
• Transfer patients if necessary.
• Refers patients to other departments for further consultation, e.g. a. Orthopedic, General Surgery, etc.
• Treat acute Medical Emergencies, e.g. chest pain, cardiac arrest, and other cardiac conditions. 
• An on site fully equipped Crash Cart is available for Cardiac Arrest situations and an Emergency Code Blue team that immediately responds to a Code Blue call.
• Accept casualties from external disasters, e.g. fires, gas leaks, explosions, major road traffic and other accidents.
• The in-house on-call Operating Team prepare for emergency surgery out of working hours.
• The department is supported by 24 hours Intensive Care facilities.
• 24 hours Resident and Consultant on-call coverage for each specialty.
• Emergency Laboratory, Radiology including CT Scan and Ultrasound is always available.
• Facilitates Circumcision with the assistance of Nursery staff by outpatient or inpatient basis.
• Participate in local company drills.

Types of Staff Carrying Out these Activities

The E.R. Doctors and Nurses are trained in Basic Life Support, most with Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advance Trauma Life Support Certification. All the medical and nursing staff of E.R. participates in continuing education, seminars, lectures and conferences to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Saturday - Thursday (08:00 am - 12:00 pm & 04:00 pm - 08:00 pm
